Abby Kirshbaum
Minneapolis, USA
Hi, my name is Abby Kirshbaum. I am the Director of Youth & Camping at Temple Israel which means I am the Director of our summer day camp, Camp TEKO, and supervise and support our youth groups. This upcoming summer will be my 5th summer at Camp TEKO. I have loved camping ever since I started at Herzl Camp going into 4th grade. I spent 12 summers at Herzl (5 on staff) which led me to my career of Jewish community building through experiential learning. Through the 248 program, I am hoping to expand on my skills and find new ways to create valuable experiences for Jews. I am a very active person and like to get outside as much as I can. I don’t love winter but ever since I started running in March, I have known that I would have to figure out a way to run in the cold – which so far, is going well. I also love to dance, do yoga, bike and hike when I get the chance. I’ve volunteered for Girls on the Run for the past 4 years. It’s an amazing program where I get to coach 3rd – 5th graders to train for a 5K while learning about confidence, friendship and advocacy! If I’m not working, coaching or exercising, you can probably find me watching Netflix or the Bachelor.
